Privacy Policy — F1 Lights Out
Last updated: 2026-06-30
F1 Lights Out ("the app") is a home-screen widget that displays a countdown to the next Formula 1 session. This policy explains what the app does and does not collect.
Information the app collects
The app does not collect, store, or share any personal or device-identifying information. It has no account system, no analytics, and no advertising.
Information the app sends
To show the next session, the widget sends a request to the app's own backend API containing only:
- The session types you have selected in the widget settings (e.g. Practice, Qualifying, Race) — a preference, not personal data.
- A flag indicating whether you tapped "Force Update Now".
The request does not include your name, email, device identifiers, location, contacts, or any other personal data. The server responds with the next session's name, type and start time, which the widget displays.
Permissions
INTERNET— to fetch the next session schedule from the backend API.RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED— to re-arm the countdown refresh after a reboot.SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM(older Android versions only) — to flip the countdown to "GO!" close to the session start time.
None of these permissions are used to collect or transmit personal data.
Data retention
The app stores your widget preferences (selected session types, labels, refresh settings) locally on your device only. Uninstalling the app removes them.
Children's privacy
The app is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Third parties
The app does not share data with third parties. The only network destination is the app's own backend API.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will be revised.
